(ABC 6 News) – In a study session, the Rochester city council discussed whether or not to open the Silver Lake pool next summer.

Earlier this year, the pool was closed briefly over safety concerns, because of people breaking pool rules and overwhelming the lifeguards.

While admission was free, the number of people coming to the pool nearly doubled.

The council debated opening the pool with free admission again next year and even considered not opening the pool at all.

"When we opened the pools, there were several days throughout the season that were very hectic and we do need to address those safety issues," Rochester Parks & Recreation Director Paul Widman said.

The council has until September 20th to have a solid budget plan they can begin to put in action.
