(ABC 6 News) – The City of Rochester and Destination Medical Center hosted an African American and Black Construction Entrepreneur Event Thursday.

The goal was to uplift aspiring marginalized entrepreneurs and inform people about opportunities in downtown Rochester.

The keynote speaker encouraged those in attendance to take the risk and reach out to resources within the city about contracting jobs.

"The opportunity to launch and grow your construction firm in the City of Rochester is now. Now is the time to test your faith, challenge your fears, and grab hold of your perseverance," said Associated General Contractors of Minnesota’s Yolanda McIntosh.

The event brought together contractors and project sponsors as well as community members working on construction for networking.
