(ABC 6 News) – Monday, the Austin City Council took time out of the regular meeting to honor former basketball coach Kris Fadness.

Fadness retired earlier this year after 25 years as the high school boys’ basketball coach.

In that time his teams accumulated 407 victories, the most in school history, with fifteen consecutive winning seasons, six Big 9 Conference Championships, and three State Championship appearances.

"From the top down and across its been a group thing, and while my name might be the one out there there’s a lot of people involved with the success we had. So, without them we would not have accomplished what we accomplished."

Fadness added he feels very blessed to have been in Austin for the last 25 years, and that even though his career as coach has ended he plans to continue teaching in the community.
