Alden man sentenced to more than 8 years in prison in child pornography case

(ABC 6 News) – An Alden man charged with possession of more than 100,000 child pornographic items was sentenced Wednesday.

39-year-old James Rambo was sentenced to 100 months in prison and probation of 15 years after release. Rambo was credited with 211 days of time served.

Rambo pleaded guilty back in April to three counts of Possess Pornographic Work-Computer Disk/Electronic/Magnetic/Optical Image w/Porn and four counts of Possession of Pornographic Work of Minor under 13.

A cyber tip made to law enforcement in January of 2021, led investigators in locating more than 100,000 images and videos.

On June 23, 2021, detectives conducted a search at a home in Alden where James Rambo was living in the basement. During the search deputies located and seized several laptops, desktops, phones, flashcards and hard drives.

A Digital Forensic Examiner with the Bureau of Criminal Apprehension stated that on just one hard drive there were more than 100,000 child pornographic files.

Court records state 29,000 of the files included known victims identified by the Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force.

On August 11, court records show the detective and examiner noted 29 different videos containing child pornography involving children that appear to be 3-years-old or younger.
