(ABC 6 News) – The organization "Kerry" is teaming up with Rochester Parks & Rec for a big reforestation effort at Essex park this weekend.

Nearly 100 Kerry employees are helping plant 450 new trees to help it recover from emerald ash borer tree loss.

"Part of Kerrys’ role in the community is to make sure that we do clean label preservations so this fits in line with both that and our sustainability partnerships for our company," Health Safety and Environmental Specialist, Michelle Kahn said.

"So, the reason why we have 10 different species that are going here is to try and help prevent something devastating like emerald ash borer from coming through and wiping out a single species, which is why we are doing this reforestation effort out at Essex. It’s been cleared from a lot of ash species and so were just trying to re-diversify the forest here at Essex park," said Julie Sobolewski, Forestry Core Member for Rochester Park and Recreation.

Crew were out Friday prepping so, they will be able to start planting all those 450 trees right away Saturday.
