ALERT DAY: Heat, humidity, & a severe storm threat

An ALERT DAY is in place for today, as we are looking at a day with heat and high humidity, followed by a pretty good chance for severe weather by the evening.

Sunshine and a light south wind will boost our highs well into the lower and middle 90s by the afternoon. Humidity will push our heat index values into the mid 90s to the 100° range! Stay cool and hydrated everyone!

The heat and humidity will build up the thunderstorm energy around the area, and with a cold front slicing through, severe weather is anticipated around 5 PM and later. ALL severe weather threats will be possible, but strong wind looks to be the biggest concern locally as storms turn into a solid line and bow through the area. Secondary threats of large hail and a spin-up tornado along the line are also possible.

Keep it on ABC 6 News on air and online for the latest weather information for this evening!

Have a great Tuesday everyone! Stay healthy & safe!
