(ABC 6 News) – This weekend, the Minnesota History Center will be hosting its first annual Cambodian Heritage Day celebration. The celebration aims to showcase Cambodian culture, to the many Minnesotans who have not been exposed to its many facets.

Kim Sin, a Rochester Cambodian community advocate says there’s a lot of beauty that comes with his culture. He hopes people will take advantage of the free event to take in the fashion show, traditional dancing, food, and artifacts that will be on display.

“It seems like our younger generation that are born in the US or that grew up here, they don’t really have a lot of understanding of the Cambodian culture even though they are mixed in with American culture. But we also want to represent that our community is changing,” explains Sin.

If you are unable to attend the event at the Minnesota History Center in Saint Paul, there is a Cambodian temple in Rochester where you are welcome to visit and learn more.
