(ABC 6 News) — On, Wednesday, Lourdes baseball’s quest for a Class AA championship was halted by Fairmont.

Subsequently, the Eagles were sent to the third-place game later that day. As the Eagles and St. Agnes Aggies began what would prove to be an exciting affair in St. Cloud. The Eagles went down 3-0 fast as Lourdes starter Braden Mlenar didn’t last the first inning. Nick Bowron replaced him as the Aggies’ Andrew Chlebeck is the first run home.

But in the bottom of the first, Lourdes’ Joe Sperry gets his team back in the game with a moonshot into center field that hits the 380-foot mark. Sam Stanley comes home as the umpires deem the hit a home run.

Sperry would hit one more final homer later as Lourdes baseball secured 3rd place in Class AA, 11-9.
