MINNESOTA

State of Minnesota Virtual Veterans Day

The official State of Minnesota Veterans Day Program will be held virtually again this year in light of the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic. A 30-minute recorded program will be available starting at 8 a.m. on Veterans Day

Country music artist Rockie Lynne will open this year’s program, which will include music and remarks from:

  • Minnesota Governor Tim Walz
  • Minnesota Department of Veterans Affairs Commissioner Larry Herke
  • Adjutant General of the Minnesota National Guard Maj. Gen. Shawn Manke
  • Members of the Minnesota Congressional Delegation
  • Ron Haugen, Chair of the Minnesota Commanders’ Task Force
  • MDVA employees
  • 34th Infantry Division Red Bull Band

Austin

Pacelli will be hosting an observance of Veterans Day in the All Saints Arena Gym at 1 p.m.. This event will be open to relatives, families, friends, board members, donors, and anyone associated with Pacelli.

Rochester Event Center

An hour-long program beginning at 10:30 a.m. following a free breakfast, courtesy of Powers Ventures, from 8:30 to 10 a.m.

This year’s program will honor law enforcement officers. Sheriff Kevin Torgerson and Erin Stoeckig, winner of the 2020 national award for the VFW Voice of Democracy, will be the featured speakers.

Owatonna

The traditional flag-raising and playing of "Taps" will be at 11 a.m. in front of the Steele County Courthouse.

The American Legion in Owatonna offers a free lunch to local veterans from noon to 1 p.m.. And the Elks Lodge hosts a Veterans Day dinner from 5-6 p.m.. To make reservations, call (507) 451-1395 or (507) 363-1960.

The Owatonna VFW also hosts a free supper for veterans by reservation. A social hour begins at 4 p.m.; supper starts at 5 p.m..

IOWA

Mason City

The Mason City Veterans Memorial Association will hold the 100th year on Thursday, November 11 at 10:30 a.m. in Central Park.

A proclamation signed by Mayor Bill Shickel at the November 2 City Council meeting will be read followed by changing of the flags, rifle salute and taps.

Osage

Mitchell County Republicans are hosting a Veteran’s Day Rally on November 11th, at Cedar River Events Center, 1006 Chestnut St., Osage IA. at 6:30 PM

Come hear Representative Ashley Hinson, Senator Waylon Brown, Representative Jane Bloomingdale, and National Committeeman Steve Scheffler.

Hy-Vee locations in Iowa and Minnesota

Hy-Vee will commemorate Veterans Day on Thursday, Nov. 11, by offering a free breakfast to all veterans and active-duty military members. A buffet-style breakfast will be offered from 6 a.m. to 10 a.m. at Hy-Vee stores. There will also be another option with each breakfast individually packaged and available via contactless drive-thru in Hy-Vee store parking lots.

Free donuts and coffee will be offered to all veterans and active-duty military members at all Dollar Fresh locations on Nov. 11.

In addition to the free breakfast, veterans will also receive 15% off their grocery total when they shop at Hy-Vee and Dollar Fresh on Thursday, Nov. 11.
