New study shows how Minnesota temps are heating up

(ABC 6 News) – According to a new study, Minnesota’s winters are warming faster than most other states in the United States.

The study shows that winter temperatures could rise by 11-degrees by the end of the 21st century, with fewer days of snow on the ground.

That’s the statewide data. Researchers also broke down the numbers county by county.

"Individual decision-makers in counties can now look at the individual counties and how climate change is there. So we thought that it would be very beneficial for the different sectors in the economy, and ecology to just have these projections for the future and how they can prepare for climate change," said University of Minnesota researcher Dr. Stefan Liess.

Researchers say summers are starting to heat up, too. Temperatures could rise by 7-degrees in the same time.
