Streams running a bit high, great temp trend ahead

Our area rivers and streams are running a bit high due to recent rain and snow melt that’s occurred. We’ve had a few rivers in north Iowa creep up to bank full status if not climbing above a bit.

We still have a few inches of snow on the ground and it’s holding a couple inches of water too. The ideal trend to limit flooding potential will be to slowly release it through melting by day but hold it back up with temperatures dropping below freezing at night.

That’s what we have over the next couple of days. In fact, the general trend will hold into next week.
