(ABC 6 News) – Many communities were impacted just under a month ago by the tornadoes that ravaged Iowa and Minnesota. One of the communities impacted was Rudd, Iowa.

On the evening of December 15th, an EF1 tornado touched down and ripped through the town. While the roads are cleared out, Tanks Bar and Grill has reopened, the damage is still here. One of those places is the Historical Society.

"We have lots of things packed away in boxes in various places. People have been very good about letting us store things until we have a permanent place again," stated President of Rudd, Iowa Historical Society Joyce Navratil.

Both the Historical Society and the Library need to be rebuilt. Residents are also still trying to adjust to living in the aftermath.

"When we came upstairs, my husband said the garage is completely gone, and the church is completely gone. Not having that convenience of having a garage to put our car in the winter, especially getting a new car to replace the damaged one. It kinda sucks," said resident Allison Stiles.

The cold weather is causing a delay in most recovery efforts. Once spring arrives, things could speed up.

"There is a fundraiser that is being considered. We decided it would be better to wait until spring when we know more about what we need and where we’re heading and also with the weather," Navratil said.

In the meantime, a fundraiser has been set up with the First Security Bank and is actively taking donations.
