UPDATE: $200,000 estimated loss in Byron barn fire

(ABC 6 News) – A Byron family lost about $200,000 in damage after a shed fire Monday.

The Olmsted County Sheriff’s Department reported that the shed at 1224 Frontier Road SE, Byron contained tractors, snowmobiles, and "a collection" of lawn mowers.

The cause of the fire is unknown, but law enforcement said it was not considered suspicious.

(ABC 6 News) – Emergency crews responded to a barn fire in Byron on Monday afternoon.

Officials said the fire started just before 3:30 p.m. Firefighters did have a little trouble getting their fire engines in position, but they were still able to quickly extinguish the flames.

Byron Fire responded, with support and a water tanker from the Rochester Fire Department.

"We were out here probably about a half hour." Fire Chief Matt Grant said. "Everyone is safe. Nobody was in the building. It’s just a bunch of content that was lost."

The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
