(ABC 6 News) — Rochester John Marshall beat one Lakeville team (Lakeville South) to reach the Section 1AAAA championship team but they could not pull off the sweep Friday night as they fell to Lakeville North 54-39.

The Rockets entered the contest riding a 12-game winning streak and led by their two seniors, Katie Hurt and Lilly Meister.

For spurts in the game, the duo carried the team and kept them in striking distance of pulling out the victory but the team could not contain Lakeville North sophomore Trinity Wilson who scored a game-high 22 points.

John Marshall finishes the year with a 21-8 record.

As for the Section 1AAA championship game, it was the top-seeded Austin Packers taking on the Stewartville Tigers.

Riding behind Hope Dudycha’s 22 points, the Packers prevailed despite close efforts from the Tigers.

Austin girls basketball now has the opportunity to win it all at State after their victory over Stewartville, 72-57.
