Rochester FC announces expansion in 2023

(ABC 6 News) – Friday, Rochester FC announced that it will be the newest club to join both USL pre-professional leagues – USL W League and USL League Two.

Founded by Midhat Mujic and Muharem Dedic in 2018, Rochester FC’s mission is to build a competitive and diverse soccer club in Southern Minnesota

“As a club and members of the Rochester community, we are excited for the opportunity to be part of the USL ecosystem,” said Midhat Mujic. “The USL is well known and respected around the nation. This is an opportunity for us to build something special in Southern Minnesota. Having an opportunity to bring a USL League Two and USL W League teams to Rochester is a huge step for our club and for Southern Minnesota. We look forward to working with the USL and using this opportunity to develop our youth and soccer in Minnesota.”

Rochester FC is an involved member of its community, completing initiatives through the Meadow Park Program. The program is a branch of the United Way of Olmsted County which provides free and low cost opportunities for families of immigrant and marginalized communities. Ensuring all youth in its community have equal opportunities to play soccer is important to the club.

“We’re so delighted to welcome another Minnesota club to our W League and League Two spaces,” USL VP of Youth and Pre-Professional Development Joel Nash.

“This area has proven to be a thriving region for pre-professional soccer. You’ll find few more passionate soccer fans than the ones right here, and I can’t wait to see them grow as a member of the USL ecosystem.”

As Rochester FC joins the USL Ecosystem, the club has unveiled a new crest that represents the club’s community, owners, and optimism for the future. A loon, a long-standing symbol of Minnesota, takes center stage with the Bosnian Star as the bird’s eye.

Rochester FC will join League Two and W League competition beginning play in the 2023 season.
