Austin VFW gets win over Andover to stay alive

(ABC 6 News) — Austin Post 1216 began its VFW state tournament run on its home field Thursday morning as they hosted Champlin Park and fell 3-0.

With their backs against the wall, they hosted Andover in a win-or-go-home game later in the evening.

RBIs from Dakota Retterath and Ethan Anderson helped Austin jump out to a 2-0 lead in the third inning. They would add another run later in the inning on a dropped fly ball.

In the fourth inning, Retterath got another RBI to give Austin a 4-0 lead. They would go on to win 6-4. They will face Totino Grace Friday at 11 am.
