(ABC 6 News) – A mental health outreach event took place in Rochester earlier today to remind our community that you or anyone you know are not alone in struggles with mental health problems or thoughts of suicide.

A number of mental health organizations gathered at the Mayo Civic Center for anyone wanting to learn about services available in the area.

Tonight, the event welcomed Emma Benoit, a former cheerleader paralyzed after a suicide attempt; Benoit reminded everyone, it’s never too late to ask for help.

“I want people to just see what’s out there for resources, there’s so many people and organizations that are willing to help you if you’re struggling with mental health, it’s ok to not be ok,” said co-founder of Aiden’s Light Jennifer Hegge. “But there are people out there in the world that are willing to help you through any struggles that you have.”

During the event, a panel followed a screening of the documentary on Benoit’s story.

If you or anyone you know experiences a mental health crisis or any issue, you can dial 988 for help.
