“The research mission is a core piece,” said Hollowway. “Because, part of what we do as an institution and as a university, is create new ideas, discover new approaches tot eh challenges of out state, our nation and the world.”

Holloway was asked many questions about how he plans to move the university forward and combat current challenges, such as tuition costs.

“So, when we look at the cost of education, we look for way to simplify what we tell people,” said Holloway. “The person has to make a decision of whether to spend that or not, and, as part of that, we have to make really clear how we bring value to society.”

Other candidate remain in the running for the position.

Dr. Laura Bloomberg will visit UMR on Friday, and Dr. Rebecca Cunningham will visit next Wednesday.
