Sex offender appears in Olmsted County Court on theft, fraud charges

(ABC 6 News) – An Austin and Rochester-area sex offender appears in Olmsted County Court Friday, March 1, on several counts of theft.
Chad Bruce Sabanish, currently serving a 9-year prison sentence for sexually abusing a child, faces a charge of theft by check from August through September of 2023, a charge of theft by shoplifting from September 2023, and two charges of theft by shoplifting from October 2023.

Sabanish, formerly of Austin, MN, Decorah, IA, and Rochester, MN, was originally sentenced to probation after pleading guilty to sexually abusing a child from 2010 to 2015 — then fleeing his first scheduled sentencing.

However, after violating the terms of that probation, he was re-arrested and re-sentenced.
He is currently held at the MN Correctional Facility in St. Cloud.
