Paint the Town Pink goes out with a bang

The Mower County Fairgrounds hosted the annual Smashing Cancer Demolition Derby to finish off the 2024 Paint the Town Pink events.

(ABC 6 News) – The Mower County Fairgrounds hosted the annual Smashing Cancer Demolition Derby to finish off the 2024 Paint the Town Pink events.

It was a beautiful day to wrap up this year’s Paint the Town Pink, with Saturday’s demolition derby bringing out a large crowd, eager to take part.

All different types of vehicles could be entered for a chance to win.

Demolitions weren’t the only thing getting attendees excited; it may still be winter, but it sure didn’t feel like it.

“Obviously the weather is more like a summer demolition derby than a winter one, but it drew out a big crowd today,” said Kevin Finley, President of the Mower County Fair Board.

Last year’s event raised over $7,000 and with a large number of people in attendance, Saturday, organizers are anticipating a much higher amount in donations.

Even with Paint the Town Pink coming to an end, the fight against breast cancer never stops.

The thousands of dollars raised over the past few months, all going towards cancer research.
