ABC 6 NEWS — A bill passed in an Iowa house subcommittee would allow public schools to bring in religious chaplains to help provide mental health services to students.

House File 2073, which passed through subcommittee on Tuesday, January 30, would allow schools in Iowa to either hire chaplains or employ them as volunteers to, “provide support, services and programs” to students in the school.

The bill is similar to one passed in Texas last year, on the one-year anniversary of the school shooting in Uvalde, Texas.
