Grand Meadow man sentenced to 7.5 years in juvenile molestation case

(ABC 6 News) – A Grand Meadow man was sentenced to 90 months, or 7.5 years, after pleading guilty to a charge of 2nd-degree criminal sexual conduct against a 15-year-old.

Robert Lee Stehlik, formerly of Grand Meadow, took an Alford plea deal and pleaded guilty to one charge of sexually assaulting a 15-year-old between 2022 and 2023.

According to court documents, Stehlik, 50, was accused of molesting the juvenile more than 30 times since June 2022.

Stehlik was originally scheduled for sentencing Aug. 4. However, he appeared in Mower County Court Thursday, July 27, after the state requested an earlier sentence based on threats other Mower County jail inmates made against Stehlik.

“Mr. Stehlik is currently housed in segregation for his safety based on the charges in this case,” according to the expedited sentencing request attorney Paul R. Spyhalski made. “He is unable to participate in any programming based on threats made against him by other inmates. … As such, I am asking that his hearing be expedited as much as possible as the work sheet confirms a 90-month executed sentence.”

According to online court records, Stehlik will serve 10 years’ probation following his prison sentence.
