Cold snap to end the week

Polar air will nudge into the area as the week comes to an end with temperatures a little more closer to average for mid February.

A north wind and fresh snow from a clipper system on Wednesday will make for a chilly Thursday with high temperatures near 30°.

Even colder air settles in on Friday and Saturday with high temperatures in the 20s. Night lows will be in the teens and some communities may fall into the single digits Saturday morning with wind chills near or below zero.

The cold snap will be brief as temperatures return to well above average as they get a boost back into the 30s on Sunday with highs in the 30s and 40s throughout next week.

A storm system eyeing the region on Friday is trending further south and will likely miss the area. Otherwise, expect quiet weather through next week.
