Mason City Police investigating third shooting this week

(ABC 6 News) – The Mason City Police Department is investigating a Thursday night shooting, the third shooting this week.

Police said just after 10 p.m. officers responded to the 600 block of 10th St NE for a report of shots fired. Officers arrived and located a home that had been hit by the shots.

Officers and also found shell casings and other evidence in the area.

Police said "based on the information available at this time, this shooting does not appear to be related to two other shootings in Mason City this week."

MCPD would like ask residents in the area of the 600 block of 10th Street NE to review their home video systems for any unusual activity related to this shooting. If you have video that may be related to this incident, please call MCPD at 641-421-3636.

"While the events over the last three days are certainly cause for concern, we urge our community to respond productively to these challenges."
