(ABC 6 News) - A Mason City man is behind bars after an early morning police chase on Tuesday.

According to the Cerro Gordo County Sheriff's Office, just before 2 a.m. a deputy tried to pull over a Ford F-150 for not having a valid registration near the intersection of 19th St. SW and South Monroe in Mason City.

The driver refused to stop and attempted to drive off from law enforcement going 25 mph over the posted speed limit.

The chase ended at the intersection of 2nd St. NE and North Pennsylvania after the vehicle was damaged by the driver.

While authorities were searching the vehicle they found two guns in the man's truck.

The driver was identified as 37-year-old Joshua Wilmarth.

Wilmarth had a warrant out for his arrest for a probation violation connected to domestic assault.

Wilmarth is facing charges of a felon in possession of a firearm, interfering with official acts, and three additional traffic violations.
