Free Nursing Assistant classes offered at MSU-Mankato this fall

(ABC 6 News) – The Minnesota Office of Higher Education and Minnesota State University-Mankato are offering free nursing assistant classes this fall.

The three tuition-free, hybrid classes will begin on September 5, October 3, or October 31 and will consist of four sessions each.

Each class will offer required online orientation via Zoom with three additional required in-person lab sessions at the Clinical Sciences Building on campus.

The free CNA classes are part of the state’s Next Generation Nursing Assistant initiative, which has surpassed its goal of training over 1,000 nursing assistants to address the workforce shortage.

The classes are made possible with a $3.4 million investment from federal American Rescue Plan funds. The initiative has allowed the State to cover the cost of tuition, books, uniform, and certification exam fee for anyone interested in pursuing a career as a nursing assistant.
