(ABC 6 News) – “You never know what you’re going to get into until you get out here,” said David Drache, a MnDOT plow driver.

Plow and tow truck drivers rounded out a busy week Thursday after this latest winter storm dumped up to 13.5 inches of snow across Southeast Minnesota.

Minnesota Department of Transportation plow drivers pulled 12 hour shifts, and drivers with Virgil’s Auto Repair and Towing were on the clock for 17 hours.

Pablo Avilez drives for Virgil’s. He says he responded to 35 calls of drivers stuck in ditches from Wednesday to Thursday.

“We want to make it home safe,” Avilez said.

These drivers are used to driving in difficult conditions but want people to know: if you see flashing lights, slow down, and move over.

“If you can’t see our mirrors we can’t see you,” Drache said.
