Honkers come back late to beat MoonDogs 8-7

(ABC 6 News) — The Rochester Honkers hosted the Mankato MoonDogs on Thursday in a contest that did not goes the Honkers way for a while.

Rochester fell down in a 3-0 hole through the first three innings of the contest, with Mankato’s Boston Merila adding a 2-run RBI.

Despite it all, the Honkers would tie the game 5-5 in the 7th inning before going on to win 8-7. Nico Region went 2-3 at the plate with two doubles. Kevin Dowdell reached base all four times he was at bat for Rochester and pitcher Jakob Guardado didn’t allow a run through 3.1 innings.

The Honkers have Friday off before hosting the Minnesota Mud Puppies on Saturday night.
