New information released in Albert Lea stabbing that injured 3 people

(ABC 6 News) – The criminal complaint filed after three stabbings Monday, May 16 reveals that the victims were attacked in their sleep.

The County of Freeborn has charged CK Kyle Kasio with two counts of felony 1st-degree assault, three counts of felony 2nd-degree assault with a dangerous weapon.

Albert Lea police responded to the stabbing call at an apartment building on the 200 block of Main Street E, around 8:45 a.m.

The court documents detail officers’ discovery of two men laying "lifelessly" on the floor of an apartment, after being stabbed in their sleep.

Albert Lea police identified the victims as Ts Taitosh, 20, Tom Aitaro, 23, and Akinson Komis, 26, on Monday.

According to a female witness, she heard a noise and was told that Kasio stabbed two victims in their chests in their sleep, before following her adopted sons out the door.

One of the victims could not speak, but the other identified Kasio as his attacker and alleged that Kasio was on "ice," a term used for methamphetamine.

They were transported to Mayo Clinic’s emergency department, then were flown to St. Marys hospital in Rochester with life-threatening injuries.

They were considered in critical condition.

A third victim, believing officers at the apartment door were Kasio returning to the building, ran to a relative’s home at 133 William Street and made contact with officers there. He had a hand injury wrapped in a towel.

Kasio is suspected of leaving out the back door of the building before officers arrived and leaving a blue-handled chef’s knife just behind the building.

He turned himself in to local law enforcement later that day.

His initial appearance in Freeborn County Court is scheduled for May 26.
