1-2 Impact from Snow-Wind

1-2 Impact from Snow-Wind

February 11, 2019 05:46 PM

The snow flies first... with varying amounts across our area ranging between 3 and 8" of snow.  But considering there is a substantial snow pack on the ground we'll have plenty at our disposal for what comes next.  The blowing snow.

Snow falls through early Tuesday afternoon.  At that same time, the wind is beginning to ramp up.  Wind rotates from NE to NW through the day.  The major uptick will send wind gusts to 35 mph at times late afternoon into the evening.  With the prominent snow pack and additional amounts expected, loose snow will be avaliable to stir about.  Visibility restrictions to about 1/2 mile are possible and drifting will be common in rural, open areas.  Wind will ease Wednesday morning and be much more manageable by sunrise.

Roads that see minimum maintenence (local, gravel) in this stretch may have major impacts from drifting.
