(ABC 6 News) – Three Med City FC players have been named to the National Premier Soccer League’s North Conference all-conference team for the 2018 season.
Defender Nicholas Itopoulos, midfielder Niklas Roessler and forward Claudio Repetto were all rewarded for strong 2018 seasons with the Mayhem.
Itopoulos, who is from Durban, South Africa and attends Salem University in West Virginia, helped a Mayhem defense which allowed the fewest goals in the North Conference (0.86 goals against average). Itopoulos started all 14 conference games and also scored four goals this season.
Roessler, a Stuttgart, Germany-native and a teammate of Itopoulos at Salem University, also started all 14 games for the Mayhem, and scored three goals and added five assists on the season.
Repetto, from Genova, Italy, scored a club-record 11 goals in 14 games. Repetto plays collegiate soccer at Grand View University in Des Moines, Iowa.
In addition to being named to the all-conference team, all three of these players have been nominated for inclusion in the NPSL’s Midwest Region all-region team. Voting for that is taking place through the end of the day on Wednesday, July 18. Fans can vote for all three Med City FC players on the NPSL website.
“We’re really excited to have had Nick, Niko and Claudio named to the all-conference team,” Med City FC general manager Frank Spaeth said. “All three had great seasons and were all deserving of the recognition they have received.”
Med City FC just concluded its second season as a member of the National Premier Soccer League, finishing one win short of a Midwest Regional Playoff berth.
