Successful Weekend Nets Bruins Three of a Possible Four Points

CLOQUET, Minn. – The Bruins earned three out of four points on the road this weekend, their first traditional games away from Riverside Arena.

It all started on  Saturday night when the black and gold traveled to take on the Brookings to take on the Blizzard for the second game in a row. It didn’t take long before Ian Mageau lit the lamp for the Bruins and Austin was in business. Despite giving up the tying goal only moments later, Austin regrouped scoring three unanswered to take the first game on the weekend, 4-1 over the Blizzard. Winkelmann netted his second goal of the season while Levi Stauber added a pair of goals of his own in the win. Dante Sheriff registered three assists in the game making him the first Bruins player to double-digit points (10). Brett Miller earned the win turning aside 16 of 17 shots, the third straight game where the Bruins defense held the opposition to under 20 shots.

On Saturday, it was a showdown with the Minnesota Wilderness, the first battle between the two teams this season. Midway through the first, the Wilderness jumped out in front by a pair of goals early at, sounding the horn twice in less than a minute. The Bruins regrouped in the locker room and would add two goals of their own in the second period. Hugh Larkin started things off before Che Landikusic pulled the black and gold even in the final two minutes of the middle frame. Falling down 3-2 early in the third the Bruins once again battled back, when Mageau’s second goal in as many nights, beat Minnesota goalie, Ryan Fanti.

Neither team was able to score in the overtime period, and only one goal was scored in the shootout. Luke Dow slipped on past Bruins goalie Brett Miller for the game-winner.
