(ABC 6 News) - The Stewartville football team is looking for their younger players to carry on tradition after a large graduating class.
The Tigers were 5-4 last season and dealt with a few unfortunate injuries, especially to their offensive line. After a large senior class graduated, the responsibility now falls to the rest of the team as they look forward to this season.
"We graduated a lot of talent but we got a lot of guys who are coming to work," senior Chuck Winch said. "We've put in a lot of time throughout the summer and we're ready to go."
The team lost a handful of position players on offense, but do return starting running back Josh Buri and starting quarterback Will Tschetter. Head coach Garrett Mueller is excited for the team to develop during practices. and is extremely impressed with his junior class.
While injuries are a part of the game, but the team says they are more focused about what they can control: a better start to the season. They have had problems in week ne in the past, but are looking to buck that trend against Triton on August 30.
