(ABC 6 News) - The Northwoods League released its complete schedule for the 2018 season that will feature 20 teams, each playing 72 regular season games in 78 days.

The Rochester Honkers will open the 2018 season at home on Tuesday, May 29 for a two-game set with the Eau Claire Express.  First pitch is 7:05pm for both games.

The 2018 season will see the continuation of doubleheaders when the Honkers play a split doubleheader with the Mankato MoonDogs on June 27.  The Honkers will host a 12:05pm matinee on Wednesday, June 27th and then travel to Mankato for a 7:05pm nightcap.

On Wednesday, Aug. 1, the Honkers will play a Day/Night doubleheader in Eau Claire, with game one starting at 1:05pm followed by the evening game at 7:05pm.

The Northwoods League, which plays two halves to determine playoff participants, will end the first half of play on July 3, with the second half beginning the following day.

Beginning on August 13, the first and second half divisional champions will have home field advantage on the first day of the one-game elimination divisional playoffs. Their opponents will be determined by the two divisional teams remaining with the best overall records.

The winners of those games will play against each other the following day in another one-game elimination division championship. With no off-day in between, the North and South Division Champions will then meet in a best-of-three series for the Summer Collegiate World Series from August 15-17.

The Rochester Honkers are one of two remaining teams (Wisconsin (Wausau) Woodchucks) from the Northwoods League’s inaugural season of 1994.  The Honkers have won a league high Five NWL Championships: 1994, 1997, 1999, 2006, 2009.
