(ABC 6 News) — With a trip to the NJCAA DIII College World Series at stake, RCTC Baseball needed to bring its A-game.

Facing the St. Cloud Cyclones in the Region XIII District Championship, the Yellowjackets didn’t go down without a fight early. Klayton Hawkins uncorked a game-tying 3-RBI home run to tie the game at 3-3 in the second inning.

However, the Cylones continued to distance themselves, punctuated by a three-run blast by St. Cloud Tech’s Brady Linn, his second homer of the day to make the score 8-3.

From there, the Cyclones continues to score, but even as Gabe Sepulveda hit a 2-RBI home run, the subsequent RCTC comeback wasn’t enough in the end. The Yellowjackets season ended in a 14-11 defeat as St. Cloud will head to the DIII World Series in Greenville, Tennessee.
