(ABC 6 News) — On Friday, the RCTC Yellowjackets baseball team continued their pursuit of winning the Region XIII District Tournament. Game 2 for RCTC pitted them against tourney host St. Cloud Tech with a win sending RCTC to the title game.

However, things soon proved to be in St. Cloud Tech’s favor as the Cyclones scored five runs in the second inning alone. Drew Beier and Jackson Peter both hit 2-RBI doubles as the Cyclones would gradually rack up more runs throughout the contest.

Palmer Mickelson was the starting pitcher for the Yellowjackets, allowing seven hits, seven earned runs and two home runs while only recording a single strikeout through two innings.

Will Pacheco’s 2-RBI double in the ninth proved to be too little too late, as the final score ended up being 12-4, St. Cloud Tech the victors.

However, because the tournament follows a double-elimination format, RCTC can still reach the District Championship by defeating Ridgewater College. The Yellowjackets already beat Ridgewater before on Thursday, a 10-2 decision.
