(ABC 6 News) — RCTC baseball returned to St. Cloud to begin its district tournament run on Thursday.

With the aim of making the NJCAA DIII College World Series, the Yellowjackets to another step in that direction against Ridgewater College.

The second inning is where everything fell into place for head coach Clark Jones’ team, Carlos Martinez’s 28th hit of the season putting RCTC ahead with a 2-1 lead. Ridgewater’s pitcher couldn’t close out the inning, allowing runs to rack up in favor of the Yellowjackets. Zebastian Bolduc’s reliability at the plate proved itself again as his sac fly resulted in an RBI to make the game 5-1, still in the second.

By the time it was all over, 10-2 was the final score as Drew Simmons pitched a complete game for RCTC. The Stewartville native allowed two earned runs and struck out five on the day.

RCTC will now play St. Cloud Tech at 11 AM with a spot in the district championship game at stake.
