(ABC 6 News) - A long time dream has finally become a reality for the Blooming Prairie football team.
For the first time in program history, the Awesome Blossoms are state champions. The team took down BOLD in the championship game 41-15 to earn the Class A title.
It has been almost a week and the feeling of being a state champion still hasn't sunk in for several of the players.
"Give it a couple of days and I'll start feeling it," senior Dylan Nirk said.
This season and title not only mean a great deal to the program, but to the town who have supported the Awesome Blossoms through the highs and lows.
"Football is their drive and passion," senior Matthew Pryor said. "To finally bring it home for all the fans that have stuck out through the years, going there, going through agony/defeat... I think it just meant a lot to the town to actually have a team come through. It wasn't just us, it was a lot of work put in through the years that got us to this point."
After seeing how their hard work paid off, the team hopes this achievement can be a stepping stone for years to come.
"It means the world to me that I was a part of that senior group that finally made that push and finally won the state championship for Blooming," senior Karson Vigeland said.
