Pine Island’s Navratil Named District Division MVP

(ABC 6 News) – A special football season for Pine Island standout senior Josh Navratil has been recognized in Southeast Minnesota.

The Southeast District has named Navratil the Red Division Most Valuable Player (MVP) for 2018. According to Minnesota Football Hub, Navratil, a running back and linebacker for the Panthers, rushed for 1,869 yards and scored 17 touchdowns in 10 games. As a receiver, Navratil caught 12 passes for 102 yards and scored one touchdown.

Navratil has committed to the University of North Dakota on a full-ride Division I football scholarship, and he plans to sign his letter of intent on the first day of the NCAA Early Signing Period (December 19).

Red Division

MVP: Navratil

Offensive Player of the Year: Pat Leary, Rochester Lourdes

Defensive Player of the Year: Jake Groteboer, Rochester Lourdes

Lineman of the Year: Matthew Sather, Rochester Lourdes

Coach of the Year: Ben Halder, Byron

White Division

MVP: Logan Hofstedt, Cannon Falls

Offensive Player of the Year: Jack Studer, Dover-Eyota

Defensive Player of the Year: Nick McCabe, Caledonia

Lineman of the Year: Aric Bauer, Caledonia

Coach of the Year: Carl Fruechte, Caledonia
