P.E.M beats Pine Island in Section 1AA Elimination Bracket Finals, gets rematch with Lourdes

(ABC 6 News) — Have a short memory. That was the mindset the P.E.M Bulldogs had after losing to Rochester Lourdes 7-1 Saturday morning in the Section 1AA semifinals.
The Bulldogs knew if they wanted another crack at the Lourdes and the section championship they were going to have to play better despite not having momentum.
Pine Island beat Chatfield Saturday morning at John Adams Middle School to get to the Elimination Bracket finals and for the first two innings, they carried the momentum from that game into their contest against P.E.M.
The Panthers scored first off of an RBI single from freshman Brandon Week. The Bulldogs would respond in the third inning when they tied the game on an errant throw to first base. Hits from junior Braxton Tlougan and senior Connor Mcguire gave P.E.M the lead and they never looked back.
The Panthers made got the deficit to 1 but the Bulldogs scored more runs in the late innings and went on to get the 6-3 victory.
They will play Lourdes on June 7 at 5 PM for the Section 1AA Championship at Mayo Field.
