(ABC 6 NEWS) - Clare Palen is the most recent star to lead Lourdes to a state tournament in tennis.
The Eagles have qualified for the state tournament for 24 consecutive state tournaments now. Palen, the Eagles number one singles player, is no stranger to the tournament. She has won the state doubles title each of the past two seasons.
This year she is taking on a new challenge: winning a title in singles.
"It's a little more pressure. It'll definitely be a different change just to not have my partner on the court with me at state. I will just kind of have to figure things out by myself," Palen said.
Palen is ranked second in singles in Minnesota. She's hoping her high school career ends triumphantly with a third state title.
"It would mean a lot, and just really since I've never had the chance to prove myself in singles that I'm really hoping I can do that this year."
