(ABC 6 News) - A pair of Plainview-Elgin-Millville seniors are leading the Bulldogs to the state track and field meet.

The P-E-M boys are sending athletes to the state meet in six different events. Seniors Kyler Bade and Leo Silha are part of five of those events.

Bade is no stranger to the state meet. He won the 400 meter dash as just a sophomore in 2019.

"I was going in with one of the faster times, but I obviously didn't think I would win it being a year, almost two years younger than everybody," Bade said.

Silha also made the state meet for shotput in 2019 but didn't finish as high as he had hoped. Two years later and he is the powerhouse of single A throwing. He has notched the highest marks in Class A for both shotput and discus.

"Every meet, especially in the shotput, he would break the record. The next meet, he'd break it again. The next meet, he'd just break it again," P-E-M throws coach Kim Klein said.

Bade and Silha have made huge strides as athletes in the last few years and also as leaders.

"These two have measured up to any group of, as a group of any two kids that we have ever had in our program," P-E-M boys track and field Head Coach Mike Andring said.

Silha has taken over the record book for Bulldog throwing. He looks to do so one last time at the state meet by winning a pair of individual state titles.

"That's my end goal. That's never happened in P-E-M track history, so if I could be the first, that would be huge," Silha said.

Bade and Silha compete at state on Friday.
