Owatonna’s Williamson Named Minnesota Gatorade Player of the Year

(ABC 6 News) – For a second-straight season, the Owatonna Huskies football team won the Class 5A Prep Bowl—and their standout running back “had it in him” to become arguably the best football player in the state.

Owatonna senior standout Jason Williamson has been named the 2018-2019 Gatorade Minnesota Football Player of the Year for a second-straight season. The award recognizes athletic excellence, academic achievement, and exemplary character on and off of the field.

This past season on the field, Williamson rushed for 3,012 yards and scored 46 touchdowns. For his Huskies career, he rushed for 7,012 yards and scored 102 touchdowns.

In the classroom, according to a press release from Gatorade, Williamson has accumulated a 3.69 GPA.
