Riverland WBB tops Owens in the NJCAA D-III 3rd Place Game, 69-65

(ABC 6 News) — The Riverland Blue Devils claimed 3rd Place in the NJCAA Division III WBB Tournament, beating Owens 69-65 on Saturday, March 18.

Sophomore Savannah Longhoma dropped 22 points in the victory as Cayli Miles score 15 and Austin native Reanna Schmitt had 13.

Owens’ Amariona Frierson led her team with 16 points off the bench as the Express were held to 46.7% from the field in the second half.

Despite being outshot the entire game, the Blue Devils shot 54.5% in the fourth quarter, making the buckets that mattered to topple the top seed in the tournament.

Head Coach Andrew Kaiser’s team finishes with a 24-6 record on the season.
