RCTC VB splits games during Yellowjackets Invitational

RCTC tops Bethel’s JV team 3-2, falls to Rock Valley College 3-1.

(ABC 6 News) — The RCTC Yellowjackets have been red hot as of late, winning five of their last six games.

The team hosted an invitational at their Regional Sports Center, in the first contest, RCTC took on Bethel University’s JV squad. Both teams took two sets apiece going into the fifth and decisive set.

With the Yellowjackets up 6-3, Sereniti Shumaker pinpointed the ball where Bethel couldn’t make a play, allowing RCTC to jump to a four-point lead. Bethel would come back and tie the game, but the Yellowjackets remained in control. Kennedy Hady got her spike blocked but Kiley Nihart recovered it for her, allowing Hady to lay down a Yellowjackets sting on the second attempt.

RCTC would win the set 15-10 and the match 3-2. However, the Yellowjackets’ second match against Rock Valley College would see them fall 3-1.
