RCTC defense stout through first 4 games of Terrence Isaac era
(ABC 6 News) — The RCTC Yellowjackets’ (2-2) wins have come at home and their losses have come on the road. One thing that has been consistent in the team’s four games has been the play of the defense.
The unit averages 67 rush yards and 106 pass yards allowed. In their 42-19 victory Saturday over Mesabi Range, the Yellowjackets had six interceptions and also returned a fumble for a touchdown. Aside from the seven turnovers, the RCTC defense scored two touchdowns and also produced a safety.
Mesabi Range entered the game ranked fifth in the nation among Division 3 junior college teams and averaged more than 400 yards a game on offense.
The RCTC defense held them to 43 total yards in the first half, including -14 on the ground.
The Yellowjackets will look to go 3-0 at home when they face Minnesota West this coming Saturday.
