(ABC 6 News) — The Rochester Honkers were close to pulling off one of the most improbable comebacks in franchise history.

In their Friday night contest against the Mankato Moondogs, they trailed 11-0 in the top of the 7th inning.

They proceeded to score six runs in the bottom of the 7th to cut the deficit to five. In the top of the 8th, Mankato added another run but Rochester countered with four runs of their own to make it 12-10.

That would be as close as they got as Mankato got a 1-2-3 inning in the 9th to hold on to the victory. The Honkers drop to 13-18 on the season and will get a rematch Saturday at 6:35 pm
