(ABC 6 News) - Albert Lea junior Jaeda Koziolek has been a star in the pool, and is looking to continue her rise this weekend at the state championships.

Koziolek had a near perfect weekend at sections, not only setting personal records in the 200 individual medley and the 100 butterfly, but advancing to state in each event as well. Faced with moving on to state or ending her season, Koziolek rose to the occasion, something she loves to do.

"Personally I'm a finals swimmer. So what that means is like at prelims where there's not a ton of pressure, I don't do very well. But when it's finals and the pressure is on, that's where I swim my best. I like the nerves, I like the nerves," Koziolek said.

She has been to state every year since eighth grade, and still can't get enough of it.

"The environment at state is just unmatchable. It's the coolest thing ever. I love state," Koziolek said.

Head Coach David Voller says that Koziolek progressed in every aspect this year, from form and timing to her mindset and leadership.

"What she does kind of affects the other girls. So when she has a good, big race it affects the girls in a positive way. And they get fired up and they start to swim better after she does," Voller said.

Koziolek will swim in the single A preliminaries Friday at noon.
