(ABC 6 News) - The Kingsland Knights are looking to bounce back this season as they start their first year of 9-man football.
The Knights went just 1-8 last year but get a fresh start in a new division.
However, changing to 9-man also means a lot of new schemes and strategies, but the team says they're excited for the challenge.
"I've watched a lot of film. It's a lot more fast-paced for the most part, more passing and that will help us out a lot," senior Lucas Howard said.
The new rules and field dimensions aren't the only challenge. The Knights are joining the deepest section of 9-man football in the state.
"Obviously we know there is going to be some hiccups or bumps in the road, but we have good leadership that I know will know how to handle adversity and push through and really have positive outcomes from it," Head Coach Brent Stinson said.
Kingsland opens up their season August 30 against Grand Meadow.
