(ABC 6 News) – In their first season in the National Women’s Hockey League, the Minnesota Whitecaps had an inaugural season to remember—and fans in Rochester will have a chance to bask in their glory.
Fresh off of their 2-1 overtime win over the Buffalo Beauts to claim the Isobel Cup (equivalent to the NHL’s “Stanley Cup”), the Minnesota Whitecaps will play in an exhibition game on Saturday night in Rochester. The game is part of the annual “Return of the Robin” amateur hockey tournament in Rochester.
The Whitecaps will be bringing the cup down to Rochester on Saturday. Prior to the game, Rochester Mayor Kim Norton—Rochester’s first-ever female mayor – will drop the ceremonial puck. There will be eight current Whitecap players making the trip on Saturday, including Olympic Gold Medalist forward Hannah Brandt and two-time Isobel Cup Champion goalie Amanda Leveille.
The exhibition game will be played at Graham Arena no.4 at 7:00 p.m. Admission for the game is free and open to the public.
